Andaz 5th Avenue
Kids Welcome
New York City: 9 miles from LaGuardia airport

It would be difficult to stamp New York with your personal style if you didn’t feel as if you belonged here. The Andaz experience begins the moment you arrive through the bronze-colored doors on 41st Street and are greeted by an Andaz Host. Have a drink in the lounge while checking in via handheld PC, or simply en-route to your room. Arrival is at your pace, your style.

The interior of Andaz 5th Avenue is inspired by New York City. Within the limestone and brick façade of the historic 1916 Rogers Peet Building – once a men’s retail store – acclaimed designer Tony Chi has created spaces inside our Midtown hotel that are inspired by the high-ceilings and solidity of the city’s pre-war apartments and the moments that characterize the city in the minds of New Yorkers. The ground and second floors are open spaces; a façade of floor-to-ceiling glass framed in limestone echoes the library across the street. The spaces might remind you of the city on a rainy day or the moment right before dawn breaks when the streets are silent, and New York is all yours.

Andaz 5th Avenue offers the following restaurant:

The Shop - Located on street level at the corner of 5th Avenue and 41st Street, – evoking intimate entertaining spaces of New York’s pre-war apartment residences – is a flexible Midtown NYC restaurant where we serve delicious, simple food that changes with the time of year and is dictated only by what’s fresh and at the height of its season. Whatever the time of day, pivoting shutters between the kitchen and dining areas open and close depending on the activity in the kitchen and the mood in the dining room.

A little retail section off the dining room is a fuss-free space to grab a coffee and pastry or a sandwich made from just a few ingredients on hearty artisanal breads. The solid walnut table in its center might hold jars of rhubarb chutney inspired by a spring bumper crop, or the soaps produced by the goats of Sharon Springs, NY farm Beekman 1802 scented what’s fresh each month. In the evenings, the table is cleared and transforms into a communal gathering place for a glass of wine at the end of the day.

Andaz 5th Avenue offers the following bar:

The Bar Downstairs - How would your best-traveled, most urbane friend entertain at home? Our Midtown Manhattan bar channels that friend, serving seasonal cocktails evoking a bygone era made from a highly-curated group of bespoke spirits, and local and international wines from small producers. Sit in front of the fireplace, at one of the communal bar tables or a cozy banquette, and share small or large plates that come from the open kitchen. Farm fresh ingredients from our favorite purveyors and farmers are central to the menu; so central that we build our dishes around them.
We choose all our Midtown New York City bar’s wines in a similar way – each one for its individuality and value. So you might share your plates with a carafe of Riesling from New York or Pinot Noir from Washington State. Or a cocktail made from small batch liquor and infused with the same herbs we’re using in the kitchen. Our convivial hosts have a genuine interest in every detail here, from the farm that produced the rosemary and oregano used in the brine for the day’s pork chops to the number of ice cubes in our classic whiskey service.

5:00p.m. » 12:00a.m., Monday – Friday
