6 miles from Edinburgh airport The Scotsman Hotel is housed within the magnificent Scotsman Newspaper building. While the newspaper has long since moved out, the buildings restoration was careful not to eradicate the stunning wooden paneled reception room that is now our bar and brasserie which serves the Edinburgh elite, hotel guests, and those “in the know” sumptuous meals and exotic cocktail each and every day. The internationally known and locally respected newspaper held its giant printing presses in the lower ground floor. When the presses began to turn, the entire building was said to resonate as the printing of tomorrow’s news got underway. The press room now houses an equally thumping state of the art gym. Fortunately for the guests, things have moved on and it is soundproofed perfectly. The only thing you will hear these days is the sound of your heart skipping a beat as you lift the lid on an indulgent midnight snack. It offers a relaxed and chic atmosphere. Open daily. Vermilion - Vermilion is both stylish and sophisticated by offering very friendly, yet polished service. The chef works busily behind the scenes creating some of the best food in Edinburgh, using some of the best ingredients in Scotland and beyond. Wine is also an important feature, with over 100 bins to compliment the menu. It is the answer to “unbuttoned” fine dining. Open daily. ![]()
