This week, I'd like to tell you about some unique features found at several of the hotels and resorts we represent. These can be special amenities or services that set a property apart from the rest. Love to lounge by the pool? All guest casitas at Banyan Tree Mayakoba in Mexico have private pools, and the accommodations at Las Brisas Acapulco also have either a private or semiprivate pool.

The following resorts have private pools attached to some of their higher-end guest suites and villas: Sandals Regency La Toc and Sandals Grande St. Lucian in St. Lucia; Half Moon Montego Bay and Couples Tower Isle in Jamaica; and Marquis Los Cabos, The Tides Riviera Maya and The Tides Zihuatanejo in Mexico.

Sandals Royal Bahamian has its own private island accessible by ferry or kayak, where guests can enjoy two pristine beaches, a freshwater pool and restaurant.

The 84 soft-sided cabanas at 9 Beaches Resort in Bermuda are made of sturdy sailcloth and perched on stilts. All face the ocean, and some sit directly over the water and have 2-by-4-foot Plexiglas panels set into the floor so that you can view underwater life.

Rosewood Little Dix Bay in the British Virgin Islands also has elevated accommodations -- its hexagonal "tree house" cottages on stilts feature downstairs garden patios with hammocks and upper sundecks.

There's something missing from the rooms at Jade Mountain and Ladera Resort in St. Lucia: a fourth wall. The hillside accommodations are open to fresh breezes and ocean views, but they are oriented in a way that ensures guest privacy and safety.

A personal nanny is assigned to each family that arrives at Pebbles Resort or Franklyn D. Resort, both located in Runaway Bay, Jamaica. Butlers are on hand to assist guests who check into the top-end suites at most Sandals resorts. (This service is not available at Sandals Halcyon St. Lucia and Sandals Inn in Jamaica.)

The chefs at the CuisinArt Resort & Spa in Anguilla harvest ingredients from the resort's own hydroponic farm and organic gardens.

Atlantis Paradise Island boasts the 141-acre Aquaventure, a water-themed attraction with waterslides and a mile-long river ride complete with rapids, wave surges and underground tunnels. Rose Hall Resort & Spa in Jamaica also has a water park, where you can shoot down a 280-foot water slide or drift along a lazy river on inner tubes.

The Hotel Kura Hulanda in Curacao is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is comprised of 65 restored 18th- and 19th-century Dutch colonial buildings and also has an anthropological museum on site.

Caneel Bay Resort on St. John is nestled within the Virgin Islands National Park on St. John.

All rooms at Costa Rica's Arenal Paraiso have balconies with views of the still-active Arenal Volcano, and guests may be able to see red-hot lava flowing down the slopes. About a dozen thermal hot-spring pools also dot the property.

Disney's themed hotels in Orlando delight guests of all ages. Exotic animals roam the 33-acre wildlife reserve at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, while Disney's All-Star Movies Resort salutes favorite Disney film characters. Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground lets you enjoy the best of the outdoors without having to rough it, with guest cabins set amid more than 700 acres of cypress and pine trees.
