As the co-capital of Saint John Capesterre Parish, Dieppe Bay Town has played a siginifcant role in shaping St. Kitts’ history. Initially, the parish was divided in half, Britain ruled the southern part and France ruled the northern part. Eventually, Britain took full reign of the island in 1713. However, Dieppe remained the capital of the Northern region, and became well-known for its bustling port activity. Today, the town is a popular tourist destination acclaimed for its large offshore reef formations that make for great snorkeling and beautiful volcanic black sand beaches. Windsurfing is also very popular, or if you prefer a little more adventure, you can climb down the cliffs of the nearby Black Rocks to bathe in the elusive pools or take a volcano climb.
