Located on the northeast coast of Brazil along the Atlantic Ocean, Salvador is the third largest city in Brazil. With its sweeping sense of ease and liveliness, it’s no wonder why this city is considered Brazil’s “Capital of Happiness.” Stretched out over 31 miles of beaches, there are plenty of activities to occupy all travelers, including swimming, sailing, diving, underwater fishing and surfing. Aside from its beaches, Salvador attracts many visitors for its artistic, cultural and historical heritage. As one of the oldest cities in Brazil, the city has produced some of the country’s greatest artistic figures and has one of the most vibrant carnivals in Brazil. Also of note is The Salvador Historical Center, a UNESCO Heritage site, which has thousands of 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th century houses. Nearby is Costa de Sauipe, a well-structured, private, tourist complex known for its exuberant nature and ecological excursions.
