Alaska Airlines

The following baggage policies are shown as they appear on Alaska Airlines’ website. Your Vacations To Go travel counselor can answer any additional questions you may have.

Carry-On Baggage

The following baggage rules apply only when traveling on Alaska Airlines. If your itinerary includes travel on another airline, please check that airline's Web site for their specific baggage rules.

You're allowed one carry-on bag, which including wheels and handles can measure up to 10" H x 17" W x 24" L (25 x 43 x 61 cm), plus one personal item, such as a purse, briefcase or laptop computer. At least one of the items should be stowed under the seat in front of you.

Every effort will be made to accommodate your carry-on in the passenger cabin. Acceptance of carry-on baggage is subject to space availability on the aircraft at the time you board. In the event adequate space is not available, your carry-on bag will be checked for no charge to baggage claim at your final destination.

Items exceeding the free carry-on allowance will be charged $25 per piece and tagged for delivery to baggage claim at your destination.

Checked Baggage

The following baggage rules and fees apply only when traveling on Alaska Airlines flights. If your travel includes one of our airline partners, you may be subject to additional checked baggage restrictions or charges. Please check with the operating carrier for more information regarding their baggage policies.

Each checked bag must weigh 50 pounds or less and have a maximum dimension of 62 linear inches (length + height + width) to avoid additional charges.

Baggage charges can be paid when checking in online using Web Check-In, at an airport kiosk, or at the ticket counter. For faster service, use your debit or credit card when checking in online or at an airport kiosk.

To ensure your checked bags are loaded onto your flight, we're only able to accept checked bags within four hours* of scheduled flight departure times.

Baggage Charges and Waivers

We accept baggage subject to the standard charges outlined below. Each bag, including bags accepted free of charge, must weigh 50 pounds or less and have a maximum dimension of 62 linear inches (length + height + width) to avoid additional charges.

Charges are assessed to the destination or first stopover of 12 hours or more. Checked baggage charges must be paid again by passengers who continue their journey and check bags after a stopover of 12 hours or more.

Baggage charges outlined below are for travel wholly on Alaska Airlines or when connecting to a domestic US flight on another carrier within 12 hours of arriving in the connection city. Customers connecting to an international flight on another carrier within 12 hours of arriving in the connection city shall follow the baggage allowance and charges set forth by the international carrier provided a ticketing/baggage agreement is in place with the other carrier.
