The over-all project, completed in July 2012, was initiated commencing with a public area renewal in 2009 and continued with total guestroom renovations and back of house areas improvements throughout 2011-2012. Halekulani, originally a private beachfront estate, has been accommodating discriminating travelers to Waikiki Beach since 1917. The hotel's tradition of gracious hospitality prevails today in the same beachfront setting, an oasis of luxury, impeccable service and fine cuisine which is world renowned. La Mer - Dining at the elegant oceanfront La Mer is a rich sensory experience of superb taste and impeccable service enhanced by the ever-present sounds of "La Mer," or "The Sea" of Waikiki. This elegant restaurant is located on the 2nd level of the historic Main Building. Fresh island ingredients are used in dishes inspired by flavors from the south of France. La Mer's private dining room overlooking the Pacific ocean offers an elegant and private dining experience for up to 16 guests. Menus are pre-selected, with a choice of entrées offered to satisfy individual preference. Orchids - Orchids, an oceanside restaurant, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with a panoramic view of Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach. Decorated with a profusion of colorful orchids, creative seafood specialties are presented in a setting which is informally elegant. House Without a Key - House Without A Key, immortalized in a 1925 Earl Derr Bigger's Charlie Chan novel, is the hotel's popular gathering spot for informal breakfast, lunch, cocktails and entertainment.
