Dear Vacations To Go Customer,

In today's newsletter, I'll tell you about four of our most popular Southern Caribbean islands for a resort stay: Aruba, St. Lucia, Curacao and Barbados. Each offers crystal-clear waters and powdery white-sand beaches, plentiful outdoor recreation and unique attractions.

Click the links to see a list of resorts in each destination, including all-inclusive resorts where the upfront rate covers your room, meals, beverages and many activities.

-- Beaches of sugary sand and aquamarine waves along the south and west coasts of Aruba provide a distinct contrast to the semiarid, desert-like terrain of the interior and the north. Jeep safaris and ATV expeditions through Arikok National Park lead to candelabra cactuses, huge boulders, volcanic lava hills and limestone cliffs. Its Natural Pool is a cool oasis protected from rough seas by the surrounding rocks. Trade winds provide ideal conditions for windsurfing and kiteboarding, both popular sports. If you want to give either a try, head to Hadicurari Beach (also known as Fisherman's Huts), where outfitters offer instruction.

Aruba is a constituent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and its capital city of Oranjestad is filled with tall, multicolored buildings in the Dutch colonial style. It offers an appealing blend of old and new, with shops, restaurants, cafes and restored landmarks like the green "stadhuis," or city hall.

-- In St. Lucia you'll find a stunning landscape of beaches, rainforests, waterfalls and the twin Piton Mountains, probably the island's most famous sights. The lush peaks of 2,400-plus feet rise sharply from the ocean south of Soufriere. There are good vantage points from the beach at Soufriere and along the Tet Paul Nature Trail. Nearly two dozen dive sites beckon scuba and snorkeling enthusiasts, like Bone Yard, where a wrecked World War II vessel rests, and Turtle Reef for up-close looks at hawksbill and green turtles.

The island has one of the most active geothermal areas in the Lesser Antilles, and visitors can enter what's said to be the world's only drive-in volcano, Sulphur Springs. Park rangers lead guests through the collapsed dome for views of boiling mud pots and steam vents.

Our all-inclusive options in St. Lucia include the couples-only resorts of , the and its no-kids enclave and , famous for hillside accommodations that are missing a fourth wall, opening them to fresh breezes and ocean views while maintaining privacy for guests.

-- Like Aruba, this Southern Caribbean island is part of the Dutch kingdom. Well-preserved historic districts dating to the 17th century in Willemstad earned the capital city a spot on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. If you wish to venture beyond the sandy stretch of your oceanfront resort, there are more than 35 inviting beaches around the island; many are tucked into coves along the southwestern coast.

Christoffel National Park offers eight hiking trails and flora and fauna like wild orchids, barn owls and white-tailed deer. See 1,500-year-old petroglyphs in Hato Caves, visit an ostrich farm or tour the distillery that produces the island's namesake blue liqueur, made of the sun-dried peels of the laraha, a bitter orange.

-- Settled by the English in 1624, Barbados encompasses a blend of British and West African cultures. You'll find a passion for the game of cricket alongside a love for Bajan calypso and soca music. Historic landmarks include St. John's Parish Church, built in 1836 overlooking the sea, and St. Nicholas Abbey, a 350-year-old sugarcane plantation. Barbados rum is distilled locally by companies such as Mount Gay, founded more than three centuries years ago and open for tours.

You might encounter green monkeys and hear the evening chorus of tiny whistling frogs, particularly during and after a rainfall. There are dozens of beaches and opportunities for kitesurfing, catamaran sailing and deep-sea fishing. Surfing is a favorite pastime; beginners can head to the gentle waves of Freights Bay or Dover Beach (site of a surfing school), while pros can show off their skills at the Soup Bowl.

We offer a variety of all-inclusive resorts in Barbados, including the couples-only retreats of .
