Salt Lake City
One thing you'll never do in Salt Lake City is run out of things to do! As the capital city of Utah and host of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, Salt Lake City is situated in the Wasatch Mountains and lies 15 miles east of the Great Salt Lake. This is the largest saltwater lake in the Western Hemisphere and a popular spot for sailing, kayaking and swimming. While the city is the perfect base camp for all sorts of outdoor adventures, it also offers a multitude of activities including shopping, sightseeing and cultural possibilities around every corner. One of Utah's most visited attractions is Temple Square, a beautifully landscaped 10-acre plot of ground in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City. The centerpiece of the Square is the 6-spired granite Salt Lake Temple, and adjacent to this edifice is the domed Tabernacle, home of the famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the great Tabernacle organ.
